"Star Puzzle" by Nora Ezell is a variation on a Blazing Star pattern.
"Nora Ezell (1917-2007) made many versions of this pattern, which she called "Star Puzzle," starting in the 1970s and into the 1990s. Among the best known late twentieth-century southern African American quilters, Ezell's work has been in numerous exhibitions; she won an Alabama Folk Heritage award in 1990 and an NEA National Heritage Fellowship in 1992."The International Quilt Study Center & Museum is fortunate to have seven other pieces made by Ezell in our collection.
